Downs Park
Situated on the Chesapeake Bay, Downs Park’s 236 acres offer an outstanding balance of recreation opportunities and natural beauty. Park visitors of all ages and interests will find Downs Park a pleasant and refreshing place to spend their leisure time. Enjoy fishing, picnics, basketball, bicycling, and hiking through the woods or along the beach.

- This pass is valid for one parking space at Downs Park.
- Passes are not transferable.
- Five miles of paved trails lead through the park’s vast natural preservation area. A 3.6-mile perimeter trail offers joggers and bicyclists a beautiful, shaded pathway, while a 1.5-mile network of interior trails is a naturalist’s delight. A pedestrian/biker overpass crosses Pinehurst Road, providing a safe road crossing for hikers and bikers as well as connecting the park’s eastern and western sections. A 1.8-mile Senior Exercise Trail follows the perimeter path south from the park’s visitor center. This cardiovascular fitness trail has 15 exercise stations.
- Swimming and wading are strictly prohibited.
- Alcohol is prohibited in the Park.
- Pets must be on a leash at all times, except at the Dog Beach.
- Picnic areas are on a first come, first serve basis. All grilling must be done in a picnic area. All groups over 20 persons are required to rent a pavilion/facility.
- Restrooms are located in the main Visitor Center and a comfort station at the North end of the Park.
