All park visitors are required to pay an entrance fee upon entry.

The pass may be either printed or reside on a mobile device. The pass must be available to show at all times when entering, exiting, or recreating in Harpers Ferry National Historic Park.

Entrance fees are waived at National Park Service-managed sites on the following days in 2019:

January 21 – Martin Luther King, Jr. Day
April 20 – First Day of National Park Week/National Junior Ranger Day
August 25 – National Park Service Anniversary
September 28 – National Public Lands Day
November 11 – Veterans Day

Frequently Asked Questions

What are the terms of the pass?

Passes are valid for ENTRANCE FEES only. They admit the pass holder to the National Park Service site. In some cases, such as with vehicle passes, they may also admit the occupants of a single, private, non-commercial vehicle to the national park. Passes may be upgraded (in person only) to an Annual Pass or Inter-agency Annual Pass at the National Park Service site printed on the receipt. Passes are non-transferrable, non-refundable, and not replaceable if lost or stolen, and void if altered or reproduced.
At some National Park Service sites, vehicle and annual passes must be printed and displayed on your vehicle?s dashboard, with the QR code visible, at all times while in the park. Please inquire at the site you are visiting for more information.
Motorcycle passes should be carried on the person at all times while in the national park. A motorcycle pass should not be left with an unattended motorcycle.
Passes for individuals should be carried on the person at all times while in the national park.

Where can I find my park pass?

After you purchase your park pass you will receive an email containing a park pass attachment. This PDF file may be saved or printed. Park rangers accept both paper and electronic versions. You may access the PDF electronically by opening it on your smart phone.

I'm purchasing an annual pass. When does it become valid?

Your pass is valid beginning the day of purchase. It is valid through the last day of the purchase month in the next year. For example, if you purchase your annual pass on May 15, 2016, it will be valid through May 31, 2017.

I'm buying a pass as a gift. Who should I list as the pass holder?

When you are prompted to enter the "visitor info," type in the gift recipient's name.

I bought a 7-day pass but will not visit for a full week. Can I give my pass to another person for the remaining days?

No. Park passes are non-transferable. Park rangers confirm the validity of passes at the park?s entrance.

I have a vehicle entrance pass. What should I do if I want to bike or hike into the park?

When biking or hiking, a vehicle pass covers entry for the driver and all passengers in their personal, non-commercial vehicle. Simply follow the directions below to enter the park:

If your vehicle is parked inside of the park: leave your entrance pass in your vehicle. When passing through the entrance station, inform the park ranger of your vehicle location.
If your vehicle is parked outside of the park: carry your vehicle pass with you to the entrance station for validation.

I can purchase four pass types on this site. Are there other passes available?

Yes. There are a variety of interagency pass options including interagency annual passes and discounted passes for U.S. military members, seniors, those with permanent disabilities, 4th Grade students, and volunteers. Go to nps.gov/planyourvisit/passes.htm for more information.
